That is why we give you some facts about the construction industry reality: the construction sector is responsible for about 38% of the world’s CO2 emissions, for 50% of all raw material extracted on earth and represents almost 1/3 of the waste generated in the EU!
During our professional path as architects, we often struggled with the vast amount of inert waste resulting from demolitions. It was precisely the awareness of the current reality that brought us together to build a new solution for construction and demolition waste.
Meanwhile, industry is also asking for a change as the raw materials are getting expensive and scarce law/policy for waste is getting tight with dimate change and customization trends are here to stay. Waste is the solution! The waste valorization it’s still beginnings and there is a los to be done for circular construction to actualy happen.
Over 90% of demolition waste is inert and includes bricks. stones, cement, tiles, etc. Unfortunaly there’s a
lack of interest when it comes to this type of waste which, in the absence of a better destination, is mainly restricted to the production of los value aggregates to fill road beds or the many sanitary landfills, reducing the potentional to move
towards a truly valued circular construction.
MaterialSpecies aims to change the paradigm of inert waste valorisation, turning this waste into a strategic and noble material for world’s architecture and space design!
